Blogs work… FAST

I made the previous blog posting (about registering your blog with Technorati) at 7:37.

At 7:45 I got an email from Google Alerts (monitoring the phrase ‘WebSanity’) to say that Google had found that entry. So that content got indexed by Google within 8 minutes – that is FAST!

A normal web page being published can take days or weeks to get noticed. For example, I posted a new page about our bespoke web programming/development services at 6:30 this morning and still no sign of it on Google. However, linking to if from this post, updating the sitemap.xml file and poking Google via Google webmaster tools will give it a far better chance of getting indexed faster.
